Exclamation Drivers talk, B.F. Goodrich listens

We just got the word on tires from B.F. Goodrich. In response to the issues we've been having with the new Race School/Series tire, starting with the next rounds of the Eastern and Midwestern Race Series, we are returning to slicks. The new tire, the B.F. Goodrich G-Force, is based on the Michelin Pilot CS slick from previous years, but is a new tire with BFG branding on it (not spray on white letter). We are also going back last year's wheel/tire sizes. The current Traction T/A will be retained as our wet tire. Long term, Skippy still intends to run a treaded tire for the Regional Race Series, and to this end we expect to have a new treaded tire for the Southern and Western Series.

I'm sure there will be a release on this in the near future, but I figured Sy would read this before he reads his e-mail...

Its official enough that we were told its okay to tell everyone. That of course means it will change tomorrow, but at least I got you hopes up, right?

My understanding from the little meeting we had this afternoon is that we'll start using them at Barber Park. I will find out for sure tomorrow.

Control

These tires will hopefully not increase the already long delays between race groups. As many of you know, these tires are less forgiving and will require a S@#T load of car control!.

Make sure your crash damage cash reserve fund is at it's max!

Should make for a lot of fun!!

It looks like we're doing ok so far. Last weekend's race at Lime Rock proved to be pretty damage free compared to recent weekends. Peter, have you changed your mind?

"Damage free?".... Now that would be a relative as well as subjective term... :-(

Exactly right Deyne. I would disagree with the damage free comment at Lime Rock, though I would say Barber was fine. How 'bout you Sy?!

Do any of you know if they are using these tires in the western series also?

Hey Nick - I think Jim A. would be the right guy to answer this question. Hopefully, he'll just say 'yes'.
