Phil Hill Motorsports Complex
Check out this web site. It is supposed to open in 2007 and be near Savannah, GA. Good-by Roebling Road anyone? http://www.unlimitedspeed.net/

Re: Phil Hill Motorsports Complex
"The Victory Lane motor sports and aviation center will be named "The Phil Hill Motor Sports Complex". The complex, contained within the 3,000 acre development, features a 4.5 mile road course designed by world-renowned track designer Bob Barnard that is free of guardrails and barriers. The track itself is nestled within a 500 acre meadow. With 16 track configurations and an average speed of 125mph, the road course will challenge any level of driver, and is created to be the safest race track in the world.
The 5,400 foot front straightaway doubles as an FAA-approved runway for owners to fly directly into the complex...."
Safest race track in the world for drivers perhaps but with no guardrails or barriers it may make scattering spectators more interesting to watch than the racing itself.
And that average speed of 125mph should be interesting news for a whole bunch of SCCA and Vintage drivers who will have to be dropped from airplanes at 30,000 to reach that kind of velocity.
And finally the Wussy Little Fraidy Cat Flying Club may have, like ET, found home! Listening to Nick Nick handling Skippy race control while also clearing planes to land in gaps on the front straight should be almost as entertaining as watching the spectators scatter...
Well, other than a few minor details... it all looks good on paper!

Re: Phil Hill Motorsports Complex
God bless him for keeping Alan Wilson out of that place. We do not need any more 4.0 + mile 2nd gear kart tracks..... Looks like a great place.

Re: Phil Hill Motorsports Complex
Oh my goodness, this is my idea of heaven! It’s perfect for me- an airport for the airplane I don’t own yet, a track to race the car I don’t have yet, and an equestrian club for my nag. Now all I have to do is pick a contractor and win the lottery. Seriously this is an awesome concept in a location with great weather to enjoy all of their amenities year round.

Re: Phil Hill Motorsports Complex
With enough new members perhaps it could be renamed "The Phil Hill Motorsports Complex Team Juicy Racing Retirement Community"

Re: Phil Hill Motorsports Complex
Been keeping an eye on Victory Lane and just came across this story. I pasted the quote below:
http://dethroner.com/2007/05/08/vict...for-race-fans/
"Watching the promotional video is creepy, of course, not only because Le Mons winner Phil Hill looks like he’s on his last legs, but because of the thumping, action movie soundtrack, showing armed guards and a surely statistically disproportionate amount of white folk for the Georgia hills. But I love the idea of suburbs being built around hobbies that aren’t golf. (Although Victory Lane has a golf course, too, naturally.) Lots start at $665k. If you build a house there, be sure to invite me. I’ll bring the beer—you bring the Veyron."
The official video:

How about Powered by Mazda and Fueled by BP somewhere in there Gerardo?
Geez, I figured two races into the season you'd know at least SOMETHING about getting your sponsors in there...

You might want to check the year Gerardo posted that...
