One of the best I've read about the experience.
Look forward to seeing his wrap-up.

Nice review.I didn't think 'instinctual' was a word but if TE gave the talk, it is now.

Always good to see SB getting decent press - the article really captures the spirit and sense of humour of guys like TE & Dancing Don. Should be good for attracting more interest in SB!!

Pretty nice part two, and well written . Hopefully it will draw in some new drivers to the series.

Re: REVIEWED: Skip Barber Three Day Racing School on SPEEDtv.com
I believe that the 3-day guys have a crash damage liability now, don't they? Kinda left THAT part out of his post red-mist debrief. What's a nose and RF corner go for these days?

Re: REVIEWED: Skip Barber Three Day Racing School on SPEEDtv.com
You are correct sir - the three day school attendees have ZERO damage responsibility. I'll bet the damage is worth at least $2500 (at market price, not cost of course ). Any other estimates?

From the SBR website: "$2,000 liability per incident." They can buy insurance for $100/day that limits this to $200 per incident.

Again, he does a great job of accurately representing the content of the training and his experience going through it. Best and most accurate reporting of the SBRS I've seen.
Wonder if Skippy ate his CDR? If they did it was money well spent!

Ohhh yes... 3 day now has damage liability. I'd bought a nosecone, sidepod, and raidator before the second day was over. The downhill at LRP is nasty like that. Wish I'd known about the optional insurance though: 300 bucks versus 1000+ I shudder at the thought of what damage like his must be at market rate given how much mine was for something more minor.

Re: REVIEWED: Skip Barber Three Day Racing School on SPEEDtv.com
In truth small hits never give you any value because you pay full value up to the limit and then the relatively small fraction over it. The place where you get full value is when you really wad up a car and only pay a third of a fourth of the damage you've done. Paying $4500 crash damage more or less doubles the cost of a race weekend but if you've done $23,000 damage to a car the $4500 looks quite reasonable.
The place where this stuff really comes home to roost is when you race your own car in the SCCA and someone with lots less training and judgement crashes you out big time and says, "Opps... Sorry" before walking away. You have to pay full value with your own time and money for all the repairs and it wasn't even your fault!
In this case, if the liability limit was 2 grand and he knocked off a corner, nose cone and wing he was well over the limit and got some value from the limit.
As suggested previously, Skippy may have eaten the damage. Or the writer may have opted for the insurance up front in which case his financial hit was relatively minor. I'd be surprised if Skippy didn't comp the cost of the school since the writer was with an organization they'd have wanted to attract or may have even solicited in the first place.
Whatever it cost to put this writer through the 3-day, (crash damage and all) was more than paid for in his piece. The crashing even added to it's value because it brought to fruition many people's fears about crashing, re-confirmed the safety of the cars, the quality of instruction and the fact that the mishap was a minor blip that had no negative impact on the overall learning and quality of his experience.
