| Edwards Signs with Forsythe for 2007 John Edwards, the 15 year old racing driver and 2004 winner of the Red Bull Driver Search, has extended his contract with Red Bull and signed with Forsythe Racing to drive in the Champ Car Atlantic Championship in 2007. Just as in 2006, the 2007 Atlantic series champion will earn a bonus of $2 million to be used toward competing in the Champ Car World Series in 2008. The Atlantic series features the Swift 016.a Atlantic car powered by a 300-horsepower Mazda-Cosworth racing engine. The series attracts talented participants from across the globe and has emerged as one of the final steps of the ladder to the highest levels of motorsports competition. The 34th season in 2007 once again promises to showcase the emerging racing stars of the future. The championship has a long and successful history of graduating champions including Paul Tracy, Jimmy Vasser, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan, Michael Andretti and Jacques Villeneuve, as well as the 2004 Champ Car Rookie of the Year and 2003 Atlantic champion, A.J. Allmendinger. Edwards is looking forward to following in the footsteps of these previous champions. John Edwards

Re: John Edwards Signs with Forsythe
Congtats to a fine young man. I was fortunate enough to be there for the second day of the test and watched John. Everyone on the Forstyhe team was very happy with his preformance. He out drove a veteran top Star Mazda racer there as well the day before. He did exactlly what they asked of him and gave great feedback to the engineers. I feel proud to have known him since he was 10 years old. Great kid and great parents. It's going to be great to continue to watch his climb upwards. Red Bull made a great call to pick him up a few years ago and now he's with the best Atlantic team. Way to go!!

Re: John Edwards Signs with Forsythe
Thanks to all of you for the congrats. I can't wait to be racing back in a country where I can understand the commentators....
I had my first two day test in the car at Moroso last week. The car is amazing, so much more downforce than I've ever driven. It suits me well because I like to be much smoother, and you have to be with this amount of weight and grip. I really enjoyed driving the car, and we got a lot of work done evaluating the new Cooper tire. I worked with Nick Harvey during this test, who did an amazing job of making changes to the car based on my feedback. We worked on evaluating the tires and what setup would be best for the old tires, then once the new tires went on, the car was on rails. I'm working with Lou D'Agostino during the next test, who I've never worked with, but know of only positive feedback on his engineering skills.
I leave Friday to go back to Germany, then to Barcelona for my last race in FRenault 2.0 Eurocup. After that I'll be back in the states to continue Atlantic testing before our first race in April next year.
I'll also be in Road Atlanta for the Skip Barber race, so I look forward to seeing most of you there.
John Edwards

And Sid, thanks to you for teaching me all the skills I need to get through life, I'll make sure to keep practicing those just in case I don't make it in racing...

Re: John Edwards Signs with Forsythe
Not really taking anyones ride. Red Bull is sponsoring 2 cars with Forsythe and Red Bull decided with the team who would drive as they worked out the deal with Forsythe. Which of any prior drivers will or will not remain with the team is the decision of Forsythe for the 2 remaining cars I'm certain. Clearly Forsythe decided that a relationship with a company that spends over $1B annually on marketing, and the majority of that in motorsports, would be a wise decision. Since John has partnered with Red Bull it is certainly to his advantage and he looks forward to working with Forsythe.

Re: John Edwards Signs with Forsythe
Ok: I get the puzzle: Spindoctor.
that's the answer.
But not really ,,,,,,,,,,,,here on Earth.
It's just as I said.
John is fortunate to be sponsored by Red Bull. Red Bull bought the seats. That is 2 of the 4 cars. Forsythe saw the purchase of the cars as a good business decision. Red Bull delivers good drivers and money to sponsor 2 cars, and 2 remain. Forsythe gets 2 new Red Bull drivers. Time will tell if they are competitive with the others. Forsythe will fill the other 2 with those they deem most competitive. No SPIN here.
the DOCTOR, presenting JUST the FACTS.

Re: John Edwards Signs with Forsythe
The notion of "taking someone's seat" seems a bit silly to me.
That only happens in Skippy memorials.

You know I was just joshing you, Mike. Your reply to hazmat sounded like it came right out of a PR machine, I just had to mess with it.

Having previously congratulated the Edwards privately, I want to do so again publicly.
A fine young man and family that make everyone proud for them in every way.
Great performance and prospects.

Looking forward to seeing John and Dad at Atlanta. Congratulations!Great news on progress up the ranks. We'll do all we can to support your efforts. Just remember to remember "Mr. Chicken", your first practice at acknowledging an important commercial institution. Also, make sure to get your fair cut from Nick-Nick.

Check the Skippy page (80) in the new issue of Racer. AJ makes a great reference to John. Very funny.
