Videos More Auto-Aerobatics

Beware you all racing at RA soon
From AutoWeek "Doug Peterson brought a new race car to the SCCA Chicago Region's June Sprints at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., June 15-17. But the car's status moved from new to trashed in a few blinks of an eye.

Video from a camera mounted on the car shows Peterson making a move to the right as the field moves toward the start/finish line. A car two ahead of Peterson's slows suddenly and is hit from behind. That pushes the slowed car to the right and Peterson's left front collides with the car's right front--after that, Peterson begins collecting frequent flyer points.

Peterson was not injured."

Re: More Auto-Aerobatics

Too bad it ended that way, but great to see the car hold up and have him walk away. I'm assuming that's fuel coming out at the end. I walked around the paddock for the June sprints and loved seeing the diversity in all of the formula cars. Look forward to seeing some familiar faces next weekend.

Re: More Auto-Aerobatics

Too close between pit wall and head for my taste. Only good fortune kept that from being way nasty.

The guy 2 cars up who got climbed over to start it all was an ArmsUp driver who missed a shift per Steve Welk's post event wrap-up.

More likely just water.

Re: More Auto-Aerobatics

You gotta admire the optimism of a driver of a car who, with the front wheels 4 feet off the ground and the nose pointed toward Fon du Lac, still appears to be trying to steer it off top of the pit lane wall.

Looks like the new $$$$ carbon fiber helmet may have survived unscathed, too.

Fortunate guy.
