I'm now able to use quotes, upload pictures in posts and in the gallery and see much faster response times on my old Mac G4 Powerbook. In my case it is now performing as good or better than it ever has.
Ha! Just tried to post the above words in Safari and it wouldn't post... So now trying Firefox... Ahh well... Overall things are better if not perfect...

Still debugging, according to new host the server we were on was a piece of junk riddled with problems, of course that is what I told customers when I took over an acct "Who has been servicing this equipment?"
But I believe it given the crap performance we got from old host. Very close to finishing...I hope...how we doing Sy?
edit - this posted instantly

Just checked again. Last night the thumbnails were there but the pics wouldn't load... Now the thumbnails aren't there either? Teething problems no doubt.

Tis true... Never been this quick before.... Two thumbs up Greg. Wonder why my pictures from the Mondello thread aren't coming up? I see the thumbnail pics in Firefox but not Safari and the pic files won't mount from either platform when you click on thumbnails or question marks?

Because of the rallysprint event we weren't able to get over to Daly's drift but we knew it was there. Will have to ask Derek about it.

I'm convinced that 9/10ths of the impact of "Rendezvous" is in the audio track which I believe is totally fabricated for the piece. Turn the sound off and watch it. So much of the visual impact is the low camera angle but when you look at the closing speed on normal street traffic it's not that high... even the pigeons scatter easily. Also all the tire squeal and blipping is impressive but most likely recorded elsewhere and laid in to match the picture. Having said all that... Always love watching "Rendezvous".

agreed, totally fabricated audio. There's a thread around here somewhere where we argued the snot out of that one!
Meanwhile, I'm posting a new poll asking about the responsiveness of the new site, and I'm posting a notice linked to it. It's time for a new post, the last one was from months and months ago!
No idea why 9 of us have lost avatars, investigating, if yours is missing and you still have a copy, please use the user control panel to change it, sorry for the gltich
thanks

Fixed! I have no idea what happened, but it must have occurred when we moved servers. I found a backup of all the missing avatars (which were all very old) and uploaded them.

Kudos to you, the guys at Zerolag, and everybody at Juicy admin for creating a superior forum experience for us here at Juicyland (it will always be Juicy to me). the site is blazing fast now.
But I think some bugs are still lurking around. My avatar just reverted to the previous one with no action from me. Sort of like going back in time.
I have also noticed avatars missing occasionally the last couple of days, oldredracer's in particular...
Harsha

A few avatars were mysteriously deleted, so I just had the last avatar uploaded used instead. I have no idea why or how it happened, it's just strange.

Maybe Greg's sleephacking.

Great minds think alike.
Turn one at the Canadian Grand Prix...
I put it up thinking the shot you put up was the one not working... Must have been within a minute or two of each other.
Doh!
Love your avatar... Great vintage air shot.
Good Harsha shot as well.

So GT, you changed it to the f cars pic, right? Double Burger Better!
Harsha, added one for you, I think your profile pics and avatars got crossed up for some reason.
I see dead avatars
I go away for a couple of days and look what happens. I LOVE THE AVATAR. Yes the helmet-tux one was a large image from a camera but it worked for a long time (about 6 months). Although I liked it, was time for a change. The secret about that one was that wasn't me in the helmet or the tux. I thought it was so great that someone else thought wearing my helmet was cool that I snapped the pic. You guys know that we are rock stars to some of our friends.

Probably because it sounds like you have been staying out of them lately. What's wrong?

I think the avatar problem might be an issue involving linking a Facebook avatar with your TJR identity. Facebook seems to allow larger avatar file sizes than TJR. If you elect to link your TJR avatar with Facebook and the Facebook avatar exceeds the TJR allowable file size all that is displayed is the empty box with the red X in it.

That might be one way it goes wrong, but I fashioned my avatar specifically for TJR. It was a camera photograph that I compressed and cropped down to supposedly appropriate size, and was accepted by the site for several months. I don't have any links between Juicy and FB. If there is one thing I have learned about soft- and hard-ware related entities, is that no matter how good the design or execution, "bugs happen."

"Bugs Happen" - a bumper sticker seen on Veyron headed for a lagoon
Yer right Mr H, they do

I'll bump up the avatar size on TJR to match Facebook. Anyone know what the facebook size is?
200 wide for sure, up to about 400 tall, maybe even 500 tall
Somewhat larger avatar size capability would give more flexibility, but I don't know if you want to fully match FB, since here the avatar appears on every post. 400 or 500 tall avatars would cause post headers to take up an awful lot of real estate, and significantly stretch the thread vertically with unused blank space requiring much more scrolling.

I just checked, and everything seems to be ok. The settings are right, so if it happens again don't move or delete threads until I can look at them and see what the issue is.
So I'm using the site on a Mac for the first time in a long time, and just realized that none of the formatting, attachment, or smiley buttons are working. If I hold my mouse over them and/or click, nothing happens. It's like they're just images on the page, not buttons. Any ideas?
I'm on a mac and all is fine. If you haven't used that computer in a while you might need to sign on again. Just a thought.
