Congratulations to “LUG NUTS” for finally winning a Championship. I just did the points and it is over, over I say. He wins the Midwestern Regional Series.fficeffice" />
It is about time…… And can you believe it his budget was less then ˝ of last years. See how much money you can save with out crashing.
Let’s all rejoice that this wild child has calmed down and is now in the league of many great names.
Great Job Lug Nuts...
I think your optimistic about me having one the Championship already. If Craig Duerson would not have blocked me in Tremblant Group 3 race #1, I would perhaps be as sure as you.
Big smiles Peter. Impressive performance. :-) Congratulations!

If Peter has not clinched (and I have not done the math), then this may be the greatest jinx of the year.
If Peter has clinched... WAY TO GO! About time too. It's been awesome watching Lugnut race faster, smarter, and most importantly, HAVE FUN. Ever since he and HazzMatt Franc flew into the gravel trap at Watkins Glen and did the snow angels in the gravel, we've enjoyed the new Peter. I wish we had that on film.
I did some math, and I think that after counting our transfers to Mid-Ohio and after one drop, the points currently are:
Peter 570
Revere 525
That's a 45 point difference. There's one weekend remaining. So I'm not sure it's done. But maybe I did my math incorrectly. Could somebody check this? We both have two wins to transfer to Mid-Ohio and I believe there's one drop allowed in the Midwest this season.
If I'm wrong and Peter did clinch at Mt. Tremblant, many congratulations. It's been great fun running with you and everybody else this season!
So this thread is now a suspense builder for the big shoot-out between Peter and Revere for the Midwest title?
If Revere is still in the fight, and Quentin has a five spot on Revere... We should all benefit from some great racing!
What could possibly go wrong?!

Re: Lugnuts Wins the Mid Western Series
Road America end of September is glorious. All come, rustle the leaves on the run down to Canada Corner where Todd has seen the roters glowing in the fading light. And the Enduro-to-end-all-Enduros promises to be more exciting and confusing than ever - teams are forming even now and strategy is already being surplanted by tactics.
Whatever else happens, it's been a great Midwest season.
Here is the Skinny... Lugnuts is not going to Mid O and neither is Revere. They both are transferring 2 wins each or 130 points but PL thinks he is transferring 1 win and 1 2nd (115) Lets use the 2nd place numbers. If Revere wins both at RA and PL drops both those 2 races at RA.... he does not plan to go, they will have 605 points each. With 7 wins to eaches credit... Can any say Co - Champs! But Revere has 5 2nd places to PL 4.
fficeffice" />
So all PL has to do is show up and get in the car and not screw up.. can he handle the pressure.
If he is transferring in 65 then it is done... I am unsure what he is transferring. Have not checked VM since Monday.
Regardless, Revere and his hold on the Mid Western Title is nothing short of stellar. Their father and son team is a great part of the Skippy Family and the reason why so many of us keep coming back. I am humbled by the desire and affection they have for each other. Seeing them driving the old school cars a few months ago together was an incredible sight. Unlike Craig who leaves me any chance he gets, Revere hung with his father and made him drive harder.
PL how many points are you transferring over? Are you going to RA to get er done? Where are you?????
See Matt, I knew you were optimistic, now I need to make a surprise appearance at either Mid-O or RA for one more race at an attempt to win, this would allow me to drop a 1 x no show race and a 1 x 50 points race. Where do I go? Who really knows? Oh where oh where to go go go? Is it Germany, RA or is it Mid-O? Hell I don't know, maybe to two of three I shall go.....
What I do know is I raced a total of 10 races this year and my fingers hurt. I raced against Revere all 10 times, with all 10 of my races going to the mid-west group (thank me later Hammer), it's 9-1 in my favor no matter what the points end up to be. So QUENTIN......
stick that in your $10 dollar bet pipe, put your lips around it, suck long and hard baby. (you may want to spank yourself while doing it)
Peter, keep in mind that Revere always rode his bike about 100 miles every race day, as a handicap. If skips the bike rides you could be in big trouble. And I noticed you avoided Road America, Revere's home track and the Spa of the USA.
And I like it so much better when you do the sucking and spanking........
I'm just happy your season isn't over and you need to show up again.
Ok Mr. Quentin Brokenback Mountian , The gloves are off, I'm coming baby, and I'm bringing my Dura Ace equipped Trek USPS 5.9 Aero to do 101 miles of riding per day, now go back to that pipe and suck somemore.
I hope to see you with Revere and I in the car and on the bikes, you should be able to finish P4 or P5!

Re: Lugnuts Wins the Mid Western Series
Boys, boys!!!
Race cars are the weapons. If bikes at 100 miles, I'll bet the farm on Revere, having watched him win races that long and having had him ride away from me on the level when he's done all the work into the wind for miles.
Flat with a head wind is a warm-up for us here in the Catskill Mountains. Try a 2,342 foot vertical climb on 3.1 miles of road.
Alrighty then. I just booked my flight to arrive in Chicago for the RA weekend. I will re-assemble my Trek outside the terminal and spend Wednesday riding up to Elk Hart from O'hare just to get warmed up. I have a little trailer that I can tow my stuff in, maybe fit Petey in there too. This should help build some strenght on this flat boring trip with a potential head wind to keep me cool.

Re: Lugnuts Wins the Mid Western Series
What fun! Plenty of good bike racing ahead. The original 5 mile road course has long straights and good ups and downs. Kettle Moraine State Park more up and down and 6 laps of RA is almost 25 miles and should be less than an hour for the real racers. I'll bring a good TREK for Matt.
Well, I finished my ride from MT to Wisconsin and boy am I tired. Just kidding. Actually, my sister and I drove the dog back. 17 hours straight. The main reason I did Daytona this year was to prepare for the Montana-Madison drive.
Peter and Quentin, PLEASE bring your bikes to RA. There's great riding and it would be nice to ride with others for once.
It's also a great weekend: quintessentially Wisconsin. The leaves are changing, the brats grilling and the Jager flowing. I might go black tie to the banquet. You know: spice things up a bit.
Looking forward to the racing, and we'll plan a dinner at Stefano's, Sheboygan's best Italian restaurant (sponsored in part by the FBI's witness protection program).
Lugnuts... 1 drop.. the odds are against you now. You best show up at Mid O and RA to have a shot.
Wonderful, even my SBR rep. does not have a clue...
Let's summarize:
- I will bring 605 point to RA (7 x wins and 3 x 2nd)
- Revere will be there with 549 points (5 wins, 4 x 2nd and 1 x 8th)
Could be a pretty cool final, I cannot finish worse then P2 in both races in the event that Rever wins both. Why you say???
If:
- Revere wins both and drops his 8th place, he has 655 points (7 wins, 3 x 2nd)
- If Peter finishes P2 twice and drops a 2nd, he finishes with 655 too BUT with 7 wins, 4 x 2nd
I hope this goes down as the closest finish in the SBR history books.
In the event of a tie... There will be a 5 lap bike-off to determine the winner.

The 2006 version of the rule book p.18 reads:
"For both the Midwestern and Eastern Championships the two lowest scores will be deducted to determine the final points."
The 2005 rules only allowed one drop in the Midwest. Curious why the rule was changed for 2006 but still the same number of races. 2 drops out of just 12 races seems heavy. Maybe it was so somebody could miss a complete weekend and still compete for the title?
Can't wait to watch this show ringside at RA! Good luck to you both.
Since we are quoting the rule book. To do the regional run offs one needs to have competed in a skippy regional event weekend in the last year. I did 1/2 weekend at WGI. so where should IO do the 2nd 1/2???
Bring your Lugnuts mask and some elevator shoes and no one will be the wiser.
