OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

Based on the fine time I had back in November being spun around by all my good skippy friends up at F1 Boston I contacted them regarding what was available in the spring. I forgot who I spoke with (I have it at work) but he told me the outdoor track would be available in the spring. The price was $1,700 per hour for 17 - 15 HP karts. Is anyone out there interested? www.f1outdoors.com .

If so, I think we should get DMD on this right away.

While I have your attention, how do you guys rate Watkins Glen compared to let's say MTB or R.A.?

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1Outdoors?

place looks really nice, count me in, check that SB race weekends don't conflict with our booking. I wonder if the karts are enough for this place? Look like some pretty (relatively) long straights, and banking! I wonder what part of the track we could get? Or all of it?_________________

Tracks:
WGI and MT are both very close in my heart, my fav tracks so far. RA is fabulous also, can't go wrong at any. WGI highest chance for damage of three, but it's such a great circuit, I'll be there

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1Outdoors?

I was there for the Red Bull drivers search in 2004, and it's a really cool track. If it doesn't conflict with any plans I've already made for the spring then put me down!

count me in however there are 2 things. that track is a pain in the ass to get to. and if you rent karts from f1outdoors, i don't believe you can run anything else but the short track.

btw, charlie25, what is your last name?

Anti, it's in my public profile...

That's odd, does that mean they open the track to people with thier own karts?

I've been stewing in dissapointment and figuring out what to do with myself in these two months before I can finally redeem myself in Houston... I'll have it up in a bit.

What kind of effort was that? You've got to come up with definite details to get this gang to commit. Get a date, details on what kind of karts we're driving, the race format, the price and you'll get everyone coming out of the woodwork.

I agree with Sy. Until the academic year ends (in early June), I cannot participate, but I'd be interested for a run in June sometime. Can you propose some dates and supply the other info suggested by Sy? Given some alternatives for dates, I am sure that you will get a good response.

P.S. If someone wants to go to the indoor tracks at F1 Boston, I'd be interested in that too.

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

Ok kids, here are the details -

I booked the outdoor track for June 10th (Saturday) at 1:30PM. That means we have to be there at 12:30. We get 17, 9 HP karts for an hour (I'll do 2 hours if enough are interested). The track is about 2/3 of a mile according to my contact, Kasey.

Kasey wants the money up front. If we get 17 drivers it's $100.00 each. I need to know very soon who is interested. Please reply to this post or call me (I'm in the phone book in the New Haven area, or yahoo people search).

I need to get back to Kasey by next Monday (4-10) or we drop off the list. So please let me know if you're really interested. Sy, call me when you get a chance.

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

Ok kids, here is who I have so far -

OLDMAN (me)
CDH
Charlie25
Ari
Sy
WaterTownNewbie (Ted)
Pat Daly
Doug H
DMD
ChrisG
and possibly KWLORENTZEN

That's 10, possibly 11.

We're shooting for 17! If worse comes to worse I can maybe get a Cobra buddy of mine or two to join us. I would prefer to get as many Skippy guys as I can. As some of you already know I'm requesting you forward me $100.00 to hold your seat (since I have to pay in advance).

If I missed you, let me know.

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

Update - Saturday 4-15-06

Only 3 checks have arrived. Kasey says if some other party pays for the time it's theirs. We need to send her $1,700 to hold the time slot. So far it's still ours, but it's at risk.

Once I send her the money she will not return it (company policy). Since I know how this stuff works, I'm not going to commit to the $1700 until I see enough deposits. If things don't look better in a couple of weeks I will return the checks.

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

OK Kids:
It's May 1st. Kasey called today from F1 Outdoors. She wanted to let me know that if someone else comes up with the funds our spot will be gone. I told her I would try one more time to find 17 racers.

So far 4 checks have arrived, Many thanks to Lorentzen, Daly, Jewell and Harrison. Including me that's 5 paid. I scheduled for the 10 of June in order to not conflict with Skippy at the Glen, the IRL race at the Glen, the NHRA races at Englishtown, Skip at RA or the American LeMans at LRP. In spite of my efforts - 5 guys.

So there you have it, if we don't get another 10 guys or so by the 15th of May, there won't be karting on the 10th. Kasey may call and end the whole thing even sooner. It's up to you!

Come on kids... Pony up your hundred smackers for a jolly good June day of outdoor karting bliss. What's that you say? Oh... You'd rather be mowing your lawn? Restaining your deck? Taking the cat to the vet for shots?

It's your choice.

Times a waistin' boys... Jump off that fence and join the F1 karting party.

Bob refuses to take my digital payment via PayPal, and I've vowed to never touch paper ever again, so I can't send him a check. So we're at an impasse..

i tried to tell him that paypal would be much much easier, but he didn't want to touch the online money stuff. plus, we would have to pay like $103 instead of $100 to account for the paypal fee. if you guys want to send me the money to my paypal account, i can send bob a check for whatever i get in my paypal. although, i don't know if everyone knows me and would trust me with the money.

Ari, I don't know Oldman and I trust him with my $100. On the other hand, he advised me to be careful in an R/T 2000, and you were advocating dancing on tabletops in Miami. So maybe there is a difference!

Ari, I am obviously poking a bit of fun at you, but I thought that your point was that strangers might be reluctant to send you their money in the first place (not that you would be reluctant to send money to Bob).

Just for fun I opened a Pay Pal account. My e-mail address is bobmanzella@yahoo.com . It should be functioning by Thursday at the latest.

Now I know why Sid is so cranky all the time, and I thought he wasn't getting enough fiber.

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

June 10 is exactly one month away. Status report? Do we have a track available? Or did the guys let you down, Oldman? Please let us know. (And you slowpokes out there, get your money in!) Where is Sid when we need him? Or Big Al Delattre?

OK kids, here is an update -

I've got 5 checks and one paypal, for a total of 6 paid. If you include me we have 7. So that means we need 10 more.

OLDMAN

And as Sid would say "Vescere bracis meis".

Just saw that Mr. Bob has joined us in the 21st Century, so I'll be zapping him some dineros tonight.

Re: OK It's Spring - How About F1 Outdoors?

so then we should be at 10 with donald, sy and chris. at least we are in the realm of possibility now b/c even if we don't get 17 people, i'd be willing to pitch in another $70 if we don't get anymore people.

bob, i do recommend making a late fee so if someone decides to go at the last minute they pay a little more money. i don't know how good of an idea this is, but it is my business side peaking out to say hello. this way, if the people who paid already have to put in a little bit more, we will be rewarded for early payment.
