A New and Improved Laguna Seca

Just got back from a bit of lapping at Laguna Seca just a week after the MotoGP. The track was resurfaced for the motorcycle boys and it is impressive. I have to say it is smoother than any track I can think of and has huge grip. I didn't get to drive an RT on it because you people are hording them back at Mont Trem but I am sure the times will come down significantly.

I also drove the new MX (Miata) racecar and was not impressed. It is so low on power and pushes so badly I'm not sure you could spin it is you tried. I watched a 3 day school using them and you could tell people were doing things that would have landed them in the kitty litter if they had been in the school cars. One guy did manage to hit a tirewall coming out of 4 and did some major body damage. Should be a lot of banging in the races. Love 'em or hate 'em, the school cars are a great teaching tool because, even more so than the RT's, ya gotta do it right or you're going sideways. Anyway, Laguna is a new track and worth driving again if ya haven't been there for a while.

How do you go from I don’t think I will be racing next year, because I’m so fed up. To I just went to the track and picked up some preseason lapping?

By your comments, can I assume you will be joining the party next year?

I'll show up, if only to take your money for the mechanics fund...which I believe is YOUR turn to be chairman of....

Of course, that's assuming there are enough R/T's left running to field us demolition derby types....

I think Alan will do a great job collecting for the Mech fund. There is also a rumour that he will be taking over the production of the most informative of periodicals, the Western Blip. He gives and gives.

As for the R/T's still running by then, you are an optimist Al. I say we use the school cars.
