Some pics. Not as nice a nose as the renderings, no doubt it's efficient...but.
Like it though, smaller greenhouse now in proportion, maybe we'll see them looking like the rendering as well.

Re: Third Gen Grand-Am DP Cars

Doug, the above picture is the Riley track car..It's not really a DP and its been out for a little while. It is just used as a track car..For the man who has everything, I guess..Riley has not produced the new DP yet, but the first roller should be done before the December Daytona test. I have seen the drawings for the car..It is similar to the Coyote that you have pictured above. The #90 Coyote was one of the fastest cars on track last year, but just could not put a solid race together..Brumos is moving to the new Coyote for 2012

Riley has teams with deposits in for the new body ..All the new cars share the old chassis to help keep costs down.

The other interesting thing is that the old DP will be still allowed for another year and the following year the switch will be mandatory. This is to reduce costs in tough times, but the cars will not be equal in terms of drag..They may try to equalize this with some kind of Hanford device, but I am sure Grand Am would prefer the new body to be on pole for Daytona..

It's definitely a move in the right direction..The present DP is a little ugly, but you get attached to it after driving it..The new one will be lower with a more narrow greenhouse.. It's no LMP, but if it were, there would probably be only 3 DP's in the field . Just too expensive

Re: Third Gen Grand-Am DP Cars

It was great to be the first one ever to turn a lap in this car yesterday..A real testament to the Micheal Shank guys and Riley that this all happened without any issues..We still have work to do, but all is good

Re: Third Gen Grand-Am DP Cars

Sweet, SWEET ride!!!!

Needs a Mustang grille and the triple-vertical taillights and then go kick sand in the Vettes' faces!
