Re: Round #3 - '06 Fantasy F1 @ Australia - Picks are due Friday Mar 31 10:00PM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AFTER MALAYSIA “BRAKE CHECK”, TEAM JIMARDI LOOKS TO DRAFT BACK TO THE FRONT
For the second week in a row, Team Jimardi finds itself the victim of bad karma, as its picks for the Malaysian Grand Prix failed to produce.
“Figures,” groused team principle Jimal Temus, “I pick Fisichella in Bahrain, and he parks it half way through. I pick Alonso for Malaysia, and Fisichella wins.”
”Similar thing can be said about Michael Schumacher. You think Ferrari has turned the corner, then BAM, back to his 2005 form.”
For the next round of the FIA Formula One World Championship, to be contested at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Team Jimardi is going to go more conservative with his picks.
“For the “A Group”, I just have a feeling that 1) Alonso is still on a tear, and 2) Kimi Räikkönen is due for some good luck. For my “B Group” picks, I’m going with Jenson Button, as Rubens seems to be stuck on left-foot braking, and David “The Swordsman” Coulthard. My team pick will be Honda.”
And does Jimal think this picks will pan out?
“Sooner or later, if out of nothing more than dumb luck, we’re going to get a result. That being said, my picks are likely dooming these drivers to engine changes and 10 grid spot penalties”
Team Jimardi struggles with the “107% rule” from its 2-car garage “headquarters” in Bristol, Conn.

Jim, I love the press release picks. MacDod is drifting quickly behind you in the 'pick creativity' competition.
Speedy, there is no entry fee for this competition. All that's required of you is to act like a 15 year old, entertain yourself and hopefully us, too.. And if you win the competition, you will travel to Lime Rock for the October Finale and you will get...
wait for it..
wait for it..

Sy,
Roso's picks are kinda like Yuji Ide's* driving: slow, but all over the place.
(* Yuji Ide is apparently a Formula One driver for Super Aguri, and is neither a pick for Rick Shaw or Team Jimardi)

Ari & Jimmy(for Tocho) - both of you have picked 3 Tier A picks. I hope you can fix it before the deadline.
My picks for this weekend's race, which I predict will put me back on top:
Giancarlo F
Kimi 'I haven't been busted by my wife in a while' Raikkonnen
Jenson
Nico Rosbergstein
Williams. Go Cosworth, go!

I just got an email from Tomahawk, who noticed that we used the wrong picks for him in Malaysia in the spreadsheet. We should have carried over his picks from Bahrain instead, as he missed Malaysia entirely. His corrected picks generated 42 points for Malaysia, which tied with JuicyJules and DalyDuo for best score for the weekend, and also puts him in 4th place overall. The revised spreadsheet will be uploaded at the end of the weekend.

Anybody watch qualifying last night? Ide managed to spin, go off-course, and otherwise exhibit questionable car control skills. As a final shot, he blocked RB long enough to keep Rubens from moving on to the next round. Does Ide have any real racing experience?

Re: Round #3 - '06 Fantasy F1 @ Australia - Picks are due Friday Mar 31 10:00PM
We've learned that Jenson Button is really a cover name for James Bond. JB must have thought he was driving the original Aston Martin DB4 and hit the "Oil Screen" & "Smoke Screen" button not realizing he was sending the signal to grenade the motor on the last turn. Nice of him to stop before the finish line so he could get a new motor without position penalty and also relieve us of those pesky points as well. So near and yet so far

Pat, my condolences to you and the others who picked JB, but Juan Pablo's little off-road excursion not only wiped out his points but also the McLaren points for me. That engine flame-out was a pretty dramatic way for a pole-winner to end the race, however.

Pulling Jenson must have been one of the dumbest decisions in racing history. Throwing away three points in exchange for what?
Especially this race has already tought them that their qualifying performance is irrelevant so they might as well have scored now and take the battle to the field from +10 in Imola. I will penalize Honda and JB with a three race pick-ban (Rubens is such a loser that no F1 player in their right mind would pick him anyway).

I must say that this is a race was quite a "hit"! I thought MS did a "bang up" job.... come to think of it, so did Klien, Massa, Liuzzi among others. And as for JB -

What a loyal wife you are Jules. MS is still the master of his domain. He managed to completely destroy the 3rd Cavallino rampante on his first try in the last corner. People of lesser skills needed two efforts - and then blamed the car for having switched off as a reason for not finishing.

actually, i think it was a brilliant quick thinking move to give them the chance to do much better next race. supposedly the call was made immediately by jenson's race engineer.

Ari, I think it has something to do with not being allowed to change an engine if the car finishes the race with the engine, as opposed to blowing an engine and not being able to finish. By not crossing the line, Button did not finish the race and therefore can replace the engine.
