Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Pat,
Please pardon my ignorance in not realizing that this was your first win! I had assumed you won before! Somehow I did not tune in completely! Way to go! So happy for you!
Where are the pix of you with ice in your lap?????
Sue

Thanks Sue,
It was a great thrill.
The pix should show up on the Skippy web site in the next day or two when Kelly has time to down load them onto their site.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Pat and Chris,
My regrets for missing what was surely a season high for both of you, and the series too. Unlikely that two guys will ever again get to celebrate wins with the depth and extent of support enjoyed by you two -- my heart was racing just reading the inside story from Pat's front-running position.
Congrats, guys, for well-deserved, hard-earned wins!

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Outstanding job by both Bill and Pat. Great to see you both do so well. You deserve it.
Bill, you never put a wheel wrong. In fact, I am surprised you could not hear my yelling "Go 4-Off!!!" as I tried to keep up with you in those 4 races. Is that bad???
Some lady told me she could hear me in Millerton. You have a very high level of concentration.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Thanks guys for all of the kudos. My congrats to everyone for a great weekend. Pat Daly for his first win! Hammer for being "consistently" number 1 in his group, to Kevin Hoffman for a strong comeback from a tough start, and to Chris Gaytos for a great win!
The racing was awesome, but the friendships and good times with you all were even more rewarding.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
It was a great weekend. Congrats to all the winners. There was a lot of close racing and it was terribly fun to watch.
Thanks to all for the good wishes. I had a lot of fun. It's weekends like this that always make you want to come back for more.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Sy, Yes, I won my first race. I was helped a bunch by the fact that the kid (geoff arnold) that won the first race moved up to the Championship group on Saturday and left it open for me and the rest of group 4 to have a chance at victory. It was a good time.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Only the pics on the skippy site - I just saw a couple of good on track/in-car pics.
My wife and kids were able to make it to the track on Friday, and have a couple of pit lane shots, but missed Saturday's events. My youngest is a handful, (thanks again Kevin for commiserating with my wife during my race) so it was hard for my wife to get any on-track pics.

Dig the new avatar as well Pat. One of the pics shows your cockpit almost completlely filled with ice! A lot better then getting dumped on in October

Great win Pat and very well done, I was watching your race up at west bend flagging station and you were having a great battle with Kevin(I think) and very fast to boot.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
That victory lap was as close to air conditioning in an RT as anyone is likely to experience. They dumped so much ice in the cockpit that I felt like a piece of salmon on display at the deli counter. I had trouble finding the belt latch through the ice when the lap was over. Not to mention my other frozen bits. Woof! Hope everyone who hasn't yet had the pleasure gets their own version some day... Wouldn't trade a second of it.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Thanks Brian,
It was great meeting you... Sorry you had a rough weekend...
The fact that you were hanging around the corner that gave you fits all weekend, after your last race was over, tells me you're going to fit right in around here.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
i'm really not sorry about the ice pat. chris and i grabbed the cooler and removed all the water bottles as quickly as possible and then got it over the wall. we didn't realize how much ice was in it, but in the heat it probably felt good anyway. a nice cold breeze instead of being soaked in water. actually, you probably got soaked too.
i was just happy to be there to watch you get your 1st win. the excitement in the pits was amazing. it was very similar to michael auriemma's win last year. i was half expecting donuts this time too.

Re: Eastern Series LR weekend
Loved the ice Ari!
It was perfect that you, Sid, Chris, Nick, Ivo, Rob, German, and most of the instructors who were at my first race August 13th, 2004 were also there for the first win. Guess it all came full circle... (And there's your doughnut! )
Looking back at the sheets from that first race I spun in qualifying starting dead last behind Steven Goldstein, Greg Willard, Murray Marden, Dom Bastien, George McArthur, Chris Wheldon, Michael Kratz, Lee Englebardt and Nester Cybriwsky in that order. On lap 3 I turned off the ignition paddle while flailing through the chicane without realizing it and lost half a lap plus a four off penalty (drove onto the grass) figuring out the self-inflicted problem. Then the skies opened with a Monsoon downpour that continued for the duration and everyone including the winner (Dom's first win I think?) went four off or down the escape road at least once. I spun trying the "slide for life" without going four off but pitted anyway (Doh!) and later locked the brakes up entering 3 and slid within inches of a big nose-in splash down in the large pond (complete with shark's fin) that had formed on the outside of 3. My big thrill was finding reverse long enough to back it out and continue without assistance. Started 10th finished 8th soaking wet with a big smile. A real laugher. Got a "Rookie of the Race" trophy as I was the only rookie in the race!(Brought flotation jackets for Dom's podium ceremony!) So much ridicules fun!
