Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
The Eastern Series looks a lot like the Mid-Western Series. No doubt the July race at LRP will include the chicane which for all intents and purposes takes the uphill and west-bend out of play. I could not help noticing the 8% increase in lapping costs, now a cool $1000/Hr.

old man, stop kvetching. I doubt they'll run the July LRP with the Chicane. At worst it'll be the 90deg layout.
And they put Tremblant and Road America on the calendar. Sweet! I think it's a great schedule.

Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
July should be the 90 deg. Big Bend. August was traditionally the Morton chicane race.

Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
Why even have the 90? I don't know anyone who prefers it. Why don't we just have 3 regular layout weekends? If you're doing it 'just to change things up', it's not significant enough. How about some whoop de doos on the front straight, or maybe a table top?

Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
So call me cynical, but….Eastern series consist of five out of eight races with the Midwest group (and five of six races for the Midwest group), so, unlike the Southern and Western series, forget about any extra practice or qualifying sessions for us. What happened to Barber Motorsports? Aren’t there enough tracks & drivers to create a true Eastern series? If the Eastern guys want to race the Midwest tracks, like I did last year, get on a plane and go, but lets keep a true series for ourselves. As far as the LRP configurations, get ride of the tire in the middle of turn one.

Sorry, guys, but I have to delete the schedule, as per Jim's request. Skippy asked him to remove it... let's leave it at that!!! So I'm going to remove the thread, too. I'll put it back as soon as the schedule goes back up.

You have no idea how much it warms my heart to see a kid with his priorities in the right place! I mean this sincerely.
And don't worry, we can always arrange a 'special' graduation for you during the WG weekend. Your family probably can't be invited, though.

Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
Hey Pork Chop:
I love those tires in the middle of turn 1. Having them there results in more tire flat spots, increases the amount of car to car contact (and my cost of racing), reduces the amount of passing and makes turn 2 a no-brainer. Why would you want to do it any other way? I suppose you don't like the chicane either.

Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
The new schedule is here! The new schedule is here!
Sy says it's great... others say it sucks. I agree with both. Let's see why.
What's great? Not having to drive Lime Rock 4 times!
What sucks? Having to drive Lime Rock 3 times!
What's great? The 90 degree Turn 1 is still there!
What sucks? The Chicane is gone!
(Why does everyone hate changing the configuration at LRP? I love it! Put the 90 and the chicane into the same weekend, or try some of Sy's suggestions)
What's great? Not going to The Glen on my b-day!
What sucks? Going to The Glen on Memorial Day!
What's great? Telling the family I made plans for Memorial Day/July 4th/Labor Day
What sucks? Having them say "yeah right"!
What's great? No August races!
What sucks? No June races!
What's great? Did I mention "no August races"?
What sucks? 3 July weekends!!!
What's great? Mont Tremblant!
What sucks? No Barber Park!
What's great? Hot competition in the MIDDLE of the Champ Group!
What sucks? No competition at the FRONT of the Expert Group!
What's great? Joining with MidWest to fill groups!
What sucks? Losing Expert class to fill groups!

Re: 2005 Eastern Series schedule FIRST LOOK!!!
Hi all...
Sorry to say, it looks like I won't be able to do the entire series (once again) as asking the family to give up the three long weekends of the summer as well as three July weekends seems a bit much.
I'll try to do the one-offs when I can...
When is the National Masters schedule out?

They're considering combining the Master's and the Kiddy Nationals in the same group as well as on the same weekend (obviously...), so they would be on the same schedule as already announced.
