Sid Brenner Mechanics Fund Memorial

It was nice to see so many friends and familiar faces gather to honor Sid yesterday at Crystal Springs, we are all so blessed for having had him apart of our lives. My boy Petey and I miss him immensely and will carry Sid in our hearts forever, we collaborated and decided to try and start something nice to remember him by, something that will make him proud.

We would like to start a thread on Sid's behalf to try and start a additional fund raiser for the mechanic's fund 2011 dedicated to Sid. Petey and I are committed to $1,000. Mark Patterson reached out to me yesterday, unfortunately he was not able to attend but he has also given $1,000 to this drive.

We hope others can join us and contribute any amount they feel comfortable with.

Sid,
We love you!

Re: Sid Brenner Mechanics Fund Memorial

Great idea for the Fund

BTW - Petey getting up in front of that large crowd, struggling to find the words was one of the most touching things I have ever seen.

A Celebration well done

Re: Sid Brenner Mechanics Fund Memorial

Peter - this is a great idea for a Mechanics Memorial Fund in Sid's honor!!!!! As I am currently the custodian of the Mechanics Fund, I suggest that everyone that wishes to donate, send their donations to my attention made out to the name of my company at:

Paul Subject
STANMECH Technologies Inc.
944 Zelco Drive,
Burlington, Ontario L7L 4Y3
Canada

Make sure to add "Sid Brenner Fund" to the memo line of your check.

I have already got a commitment from a number of people that want to contribute.

Re: Sid Brenner Mechanics Fund Memorial

It's not about the contributions as much as it is about the recollections of how he loved the sport: and especialy, the underdogs.
He revelled in thumbing his nose at the 1950's ethic...the competition that would'nt have Jews as members of what was, a snooty WASP Sporty-car ethic. He didn't try to assimilate...he stuck it back in your face. He made a loud, exageated character of the Sporty Organizer, and brought a judgement of the street mentality to the previously lace and lilly game.
