Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

It's official. Hell has frozen over...

Dalytrio will do her 3 day open wheel racing school on August 22, 23 and 24 at Lime Rock Park.

Be afraid... Be very afraid

Eek! Re: Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

Oh man, Pat, you blew her cover! Not even MY dad (or Ryan, who was the other instructor) blew my cover!

Re: Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

Yeah... But when you think about it... All the instructors already know her so it won't be a surprise to them... And none of the other students at the 3 day will have any idea who she is since most all of them will have never seen this thread. So she'd have to arrive disguised as Peter Dannan to not be recognized by the instructors and be taken note of by her fellow 3 dayers. If her cover is blown it will be by other instructors... Not by me

Which is exactly why I always said I'd have to take a school at a one-off location under an assumed name with instructors who wouldn't recognize me. Instead, I was in a four person "corporate" Reverse Combo with two instructors.

Is there a caption contest here???

"Dad. I know I promised I wouldn't pass you but....."

"Once she gets under Daddy Dearest's lap times she'll be ok."

"Hey Dad, What does an F2000 cost?"

"Dad, this is Tommy. He has a truck and a nice 24 foot enclosed trailer and we were wondering....."

Re: Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

woah woah woah. no drama, just good plain fun.

i am most certainly NOT saying that i will be any good in a skippy car, just that i can be fast in a kart. my own personal goal when i was starting karting was to be able to beat my dad, and as you can tell i am quite proud (maybe too proud) that i met my goal.

i cant wait for my 3-day and i have no doubt that i will be quite humbled

Trio - concede nothing. I have a friend who was an offensive lineman in the NFL for 11 years, then coached in the NFL for another 15 years. He has a sign over his desk that reads: "Believe you can or believe you can not, either way you are right".

That is one true statement, Mike.

I do believe there was a serious earthquake on the East Coast during that school. Hmmm. And you say it was purely a coincidence?

Pat... Totally spaced out yesterday when I was cruising though LRP yesterday when I saw you. It skipped my mind about Julia's 3day.

Hope all went well.. Sounded like it did as I was chatting with Phil while he was doing Julia's, and the other 3day students' "dirt"..

Re: Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

Hi Ted,
Dalytrio was sitting on the pit wall when the earth moved. She thought some of the mechanics were trying to play a trick on her but then realized she was sitting on a Jersey barrier that would take more than two mechanics to rock. Then she noticed the whole pit lane was shaking and cars were jiggling. I was walking down pit lane and my motion blocked me from feeling it but my radio crackled... "Did you feel that..." "Yeah, that was an earthquake!" "You see all the cars in the paddock are jiggling" Yeah and all the buildings shook..." I felt cheated because I didn't feel it or see any of the jiggling. By the time it was reported... it was over. But no doubt it was the earth simply adjusting to Trio's 2nd day in a race car.

Hey Roger... No problem at all... Wasn't 100% certain it was you because I haven't seen you in a while and didn't know what you were riding but figured it probably was you as there aren't that many fierce dirt bikers prowling LRP's paddock.

Great to see Phil feeling better and on his game. He was a great dynamic lead for Trio's 3-Day. Rick D and Bruce M were also in fine form. She had a blast, asked good questions, made terrific progress and loved the downhill enough to run away from almost everyone in her group. It was a good group... Four women, and about 9 guys. Several sons and daughters of racers so lots of laughs, hugs and good stories.

Trio had a good learning spin in turn one during the braking and turning exercise (Where I had my first spin. :-) and another one or two in turn 3 while figuring out trail braking. She kept her nose clean and made great progress in understanding and executing complex vehicle dynamics. It was a joy to witness and especially nice to help her strap into the car over three days the way she has helped me over the last 8 years. Good stuff and so proud of the way she engaged in the process and learned.

Trio was mightily honored to have Doug Harrison video her during day two of the 3-Day with interviews and action shots and Mike Marino, Alex and Ally took some stellar action and posed shots to preserve the moment. It was probably the nicest three days of weather I've ever experienced at LRP and the whole event could not have been more enjoyable.

A few great Mike Marino, Alex and Ally stills.

Re: Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

Pat.. absolutely awesome that you got to return the favor of being a good supporter and designated belt buckler.. Sounds like she had a blast and learned a bunch of exactly what she should be learning.. Sounds like lots of good experienced gained. A great group of instructors and as always great job with pics n vid by Mike and Alex..

Next time Ill stop for sure. I need to do a better job of keeping up with my ALL my LRP buddies on my off time.

And the bike always looks a lil different when you see it, always has some new scars. Thankfully the Italian beauty doesn't mind sacrificing herself every once in awhile. Got enough of my own scars and bruises over the years. lol...

Re: Dalytrio to do 3 day racing school

I'm glad you liked the shots, Pat! Alex and I lucked out on Tuesday with the weather -- unlike what Mike and I had today... When we were shooting the 3Day, Alex and I knew ahead of time that Julia was in the 49, so we made sure to get extra shots of her.

A big thank you also goes out to Doug, who happened to have a spare card reader that we put to good use when one of our pins bent. Thanks Doug!

Thanks cheeky!
Forgot to include you in the trigger happy trio. Ally was part of the Mike Marino trio that lensed the event and owe thanks to her as well. Brava and Bravo to all.
