Question Site performance

Howdy, posting here so people see it. I'll be calling the site host support tomorrow and am wondering how the site has been performing for you lately. Overall for me it's been acceptable in navigation, posting and editing speed, not great, slower than it should be, only acceptable. Earlier today it was very slow, but I think that was my problem, not SF because this evening I got my problem fixed and the site is faster than I have seen in a while.

DD, your problems have been noted and I'll ask if any changes the host has made could be affecting an older Mac OS.
I posted about my pic gallery uploading today, anyone else beside Bobo tried picture uploads and what was result?
Someone, (Harsha?) mentioned a problem changing avatar...maybe some of you could try an avatar change or pic upload as tests.

Any info - good or bad - that I could get tonight / tomorrow AM would be much appreciated. Also, let me know what state / region you are located in.

thanks

Re: Site performance

Was it off-line several days ago? Seems like last weekend my desktop shortcut sent me to the Go Daddy site.

Re: Site performance

Firefox wouldn't upload pics for me... Now trying Safari... Nope... Neither will load. When I select a single picture and attempt to upload it it doesn't happen. I get the beachball indicating something in process but it never uploads and finally times out both in Safari and Firefox.

Re: Site performance

For me two strange things happened. 1st, my post to the recent thread about "car of the decade" wound up as part of Pat's post. I have no idea how that happened. 2nd, the photo I attached has disappeared. Not sure why.

Normally in DC, this week have been in Florida.

Thanks Doug.

What kind of hosting plan is this board on?

I cannot believe how often it is slow to post or open links.

Greg, I agree. Still 30-35 sec to load posts (which is better than the 2 minutes it was taking), changing avatar FAILED. 5 minutes, no further response from server.
Location: Chapel Hill, NC

Greg, I hesitate to broach the subject because I have no idea whether you want to get involved in this, but given how many problems we are having and have had with the current host/server, maybe it's time to move Skippy Forums somewhere else. If this is something you want to get involved in, maybe you and Sy should talk. Just an idea. These types of problems, if repeated or continual, can be a death blow to an online community.

Re: Site performance

Wed AM - I'm using my antique PC and the site is responding very well, posts, nav, pic viewing, vids, all seem good. If it is fast on this old PC I must assume the host has made improvements, any other comments? I am returning host's call now, will see what they say. Greg, you rec. my email?

Re: Site performance

Doug,

I'm having no issue with the site lately, however I have not tried uploading photos since the karting shootout.

The MSR car looks really great, probably one of the best Daytona Prototypes ever. It's hard to make that shape look racy.
