Look at it this way - you are looking at one of three sides. the other side can be a tail, a tail or a head.
Next week instead of me flagging we'll play this game. Every time the other side is matching you give me $8, and every time the other side is different I'll give you $10 dollars. According to your logic you should make a lot of money. Everyone is welcome to play!
Keep in mind that just because two outcomes are possible it does not mean the odds are 50/50. For example, today I may have sex with Jennifer Aniston or I may not. That does not mean there is a 50/50 chance of it happening.
