Re: 2015 Daytona 24hr

Didn't hear that comment from Tommy K.

No idea what the penalty would have been and whether it would have changed the results of the race, but that's not the kind of decision Wayne Taylor would have made after realizing they'd erred.

The downside of that decision, after compromising his integrity, would have been a tainted win that most likely would have been taken away, plus a possible fine, points penalty and or qualifying penalty against his team and/or drivers going forward.

The teams all agree to those rules so the sanctioning body would likely make an example of anyone ignoring them. Wayne knows both the rules and the sanctioning body officials well enough to know intentionally ignoring those rules would have been a low percentage choice that would have likely hurt his sons more than it would have helped them and the team.

I also really wanted the Taylors to hang on. Jordan was great in his post-race interview, despite how tough it must have been.

Now, what are your thoughts on what Tommy Kendall had to say? Basically, that he would have kept Jordan in and then left it up to the stewards to decide whether they would assess the penalty. Would the penalty have disqualified them entirely, or would there have been a time penalty assessed? Would that time penalty have knocked them off the podium? The announcers did say that they would have bet on Jordan's taking the lead on the restart. Did the possible reward (winning the race) outweigh the risks?
