Yep, the obscure engineering principle of "unintended consequences", also known as the "stainless steel prop syndrome". Cheap aluminum props break easily, get nicked up and generally look crappy in short order, but almost always get you back to the marina. Stainless props, ohhh, very shiney, add a little stern bling-bling and attract marina wenches. All is good. Then bling-bling meets submerged object. If lucky, shear key does it's job, if not, the lower unit throws in the towel. Marina wenches are not amused, as they do not paddle.

Next, the CV's will get beefier, then the gearboxes will start to break. Maybe a good time to go back to the weaker pressure plates?
