Re: Mechanics Fund-ACT NOW

"Supporting the mechanics fund should be viewed as part of the budget for pursuing a career in racing!"

Karen: you are 100% right. Budget is the key word. For hobbyists as well. If you are going to spend $25,000 to $30,000 for the whole season, plus travel, you need to allocate upfront your mechanics fund contribution and stick with it. The mechanics fund should be viewed as part and parcel of the overall cost structure. After having committed to the kind of money that SBRS requires, you can't leave it to chance that on saturday or sunday morning you'll have the right amount of cash in your pocket nor, if you have it, that you'll have the fortitude to dig in that long pocket which might have lengthened still if you had a crash the previous day. It's basic discipline and fairness. Some people have more money than others but even if you have to scrape $3,500 to run in just one race week-end a year, you can still scrape a little harder for a hundred bucks or so. It won't kill you.
