Mikel Miller to Ready to Race in Rolex 24 with Yellow Dragon Motorsports

Pacific Grove, Cali.--This weekend, one of the biggest events in motorsports will be taking place in Daytona Beach, FL. The Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway is celebrating its 49th anniversary of the famed 24 hour sports car endurance race. Professional drivers from different forms of motorsports all over the world will come together to compete in this historic event.

For the past twenty-two years, Maryland born race car driver Mikel Miller has been building an impressive racing resume, and this year he will be adding the Rolex 24 at Daytona to his list. Miller will be driving the No. 36 ModSpace/CONSTRUCT CORPS Mazda RX-8 for Yellow Dragon Motorsports alongside Chris Cumming, Taylor Hacquard and Justin Marks.

Miller started his racing career in karts in 1988 and since then has made his mark in the motorsports world competing in series such as Star Mazda, Barber Dodge Pro Series, Champ Car Atlantic, Formula Holden, Grand Am and many more. Miller has also gained experience as an engineer in Grand Am and Star Mazda in addition to becoming a well respected instructor and tester at Skip Barber Racing School.

“Having Justin, Taylor, Mikel and Chris in the No. 36 ModSpace/CONSTRUCT CORPS Mazda RX-8 just goes to show how Mazda drivers can come from so many different series and end up coming together to race at a huge event like the Rolex 24,” said Jack Smith, owner Yellow Dragon Motorsports. The Smyrna, Georgia-based race team will be managed by Phil Creighton and engineered by Rossella Manfranato.

Miller and the team had a successful test in December, working on both the car and team setup. “Our Engineer/Crew chief pair, Rossella and Phil was incredible, and we will be in a good position for the race,” says Miller. “Every driver on the team is good, and the team (Yellow Dragon) is really working hard, always making the car better.”

Also sponsoring Miller for the event are Performance Drink, Wine Country Motorsports, Intervision, Savagedesigns.com, and Burgeron.com. “I’d like to give a huge thanks to Mazda, the Hacquard family, Chris, Greg, Jeff and Tom. This is going to be a great event and I couldn’t have done it without their help.” Miller will also be competing in the Continental Tire challenge Friday, January 28th with BGB Motorsports.

The on-track race action of the 49th Annual Rolex 24th at Daytona begins January 29th. Televised coverage begins with an event preview Friday, January 28th at 10:00pm ET on SPEED.
